its possible it has a bad belt in the tire, and this will make a tread slap noise ,only when your driving,i bought a new set once, and there was a bad one in them that did this,a tire noise is hard to find also, especially if its in a belt, look for high spot on the tire that will indicate a bad belt, you can also take it off with no weight on it,and roll it and sometimes see this, that's the only thing i know to tell you,i hope you find it though, they will drive you nuts trying to find them, good luck on it though.

I just hope you got your life out of the tires on that axle. Road force tire balancing machine might pick up a defect from the belts and cords inside the tire if tested hot. I use a Hunter GPS 9000 tire balance machine and find about 1 in ten tires dammaged or defective. And a lot of bent wheels. IF your altima has plastic wheel covers you might want to try removing the wheel covers and test drive again. Noise from the wheel covers can some times be heard at low speed driving along a wall where it is quiet.

A "ply-separation" is a possible cause. On the front wheels this may also cause a shimmy in the steering wheel. The fact that the sound does not occur all the time tends to rule this out. A lazy or stuck brake caliper seems more likely. Drive it for a while then measure the brake temperature on each side and look for large variations.

definite, for numerous motives. The suspension of the '02 develop into no longer designed to rigidity on a fifty 5 component ratio tires. Plus, the burden potential of the fifty 5 sidewall isn't sufficient for the load of the vehicle. Thirdly, the fifty 5's are going to offer you plenty extra or a harsh experience. Yup, there are 3 significant motives why the fifty 5 component ratio tires no longer the right in nice condition on your Altima.
