Not all cell phone companies cover all areas. You may want to sign up with a cell company that covers the area that you would be using the phone most of the time. This will reduce long distance and roaming charges also.

buy a cheap one then with pay as you go. that way you only put money on the phone when you want to use it, usually in increments of 10 or 20 dollars (or euros).
if you dont use it too often there's no point being penalised for having it! a lot of places do deals where they sell you a phone for €100 or so, and give you €70 odd in free credit when you register on line, so be sure to ask around!

I love Verizon. They have the best deals and the best reception nationwide. I have never had a dropped call or any other problems with them. That is who I would suggest. Have a great day!

if you were to go with verizon a chocolate would be my personal first choice but since you just starting maby try a simple phone like a razor. they are simple to use but still a fab phone
if you go with alltel iphone would deffinetly be my first choice, but a simpler phone like the alltel snap
good luck!♣

If a lot of your friends have Verizon, I'd recommend it. I've had it for almost a year and have never had any issues. Also, whenever I do have to call customer service for whatever reason, they're always super kind and helpful.

I use Verizon but Cingular is the best because lots of people have Cingular and if you call someone that has a Cingular phone, it's free. (If you get the plan)
