I have never aquired any contacts or had any kind of online "pen pal". I'm not looking for a "chat group" just a few people I could converse with when I'm online. How do I get started?

There are plenty of sites where you can go to. Heck, go to yahoo! games, and chat it up with the person you're playing (insert your favorite yahoo! game here) with. It's a great way to make friends...

There are many ways: Check profiles and find common interests. Often times, you will have to make the initial contact, but if you want to make friends that's how you do it. You can set up a Yahoo 360 page. These are fun, and a great way to make friends. The friends you make there can often times lead to long lasting friendships as well.

it depends on what you are looking for. If you are looking for a relationship, I would suggest putting an ad up on one of the several dating web sites. be honest, post a recent photo and be specific as to what you are looking for. Just be aware that there are a lot of men/woman on these web sites who pretend to be who they think you want them to be. You have to ween out the weirdo's to find a prince and believe me, there are many more weirdo's than princes, but they do exist. Good luck to you.

If this is something you really would like to experience, I would go into a chat room of your particular interest........to find one who has like interests, and one who would wish to be friends.
But PLEASE DO use caution. Obviously you are dealing with STRANGERS online.
