Fuel gauge sending unit (which is a float attaching to a variable resistor) in side the fuel tank.Check circuit from this sender to the fuel gauge,if not open,then replace fuel gauge sender.Hope this helps.

Assuming that you have had a the car a while so that it has used enough for the gauge to react. You have a ground wire loose or probably the sending unit in the tank. You really have not supplied enough information to clearly help you. But i would take it to the shop and have it looked at.

It's your neighbors playing tricks on you because you brag about your mileage... And latter when they start siphoning out fuel? Sounds like it is time to remove the sender unit wire and see if the gauge gos to empty means the dash board side is working. If you whold tell me what your driving I can be more specific.

what type of chev? i have an aveo and it doesn't move off of full for about 50 or 60 miles, i get about 360 - 375 miles per tank.
