I have a little one on the way and we're stuck on 2 names. We're looking for something individual. No name suggestions, please. We don't need anymore options added to our plate. Just vote on the one you like best. Thank you!!!

Vox- means "voice" in Latin (I'm a singer and my husband is a bass player, so this kind of plays into that for us. Plus, Vox is a guitar equipment company although I don't think that's a big deal. Also, we're Christians and typically Vox is used in the latin term "vox dei" which means "voice of God.")

Gavin- is Welsh for "White Hawk" (For the most part, this is just a name that I've liked for many years. I do have a Welsh background, so that's kind of neat. My husband thinks that "White Hawk" is cool.

So please take in the name and the meaning that it has to us and give us a vote!

My husband says I should give details on the singing. I'm an opera singer and frequently sing Latin arias and such. So... yes, that plays into it.

Thanks to all that have answered thus far!

Of those two, I prefer Gavin.

There is a "coincidental?" connection between your two names.

Bono, of U2 fame, has a friend "Gavin Friday", who gave him the nickname Bono Vox after a hearing aid shop in Dublin called "Bona Vox" because he sang so loudly he seemed to be singing for the dead. Bono, who's real name is Paul David Hewson, did not like the nickname until he heard it loosely translated to mean "good voice". It was then that he decided to keep Bono Vox as a stage name.
But I haven't heard the name Vox used for a first name.

I like the meaning of Vox, but I like the name Gavin better. That's cool that you guys are Christians. So am I. I don't know. I'd say Gavin. But it really depends on his last name or his middle name. I'd say Vox. I don't even know anymore. Both are great. Why don't you name him Gavin Vox? And then his last name. That's what I'd do.

I really like Gavin a lot! Vox has a cool meaning, but I don't think i would like that name growing.

My vote is for Gavin! Good Luck!

Vox seems to have much more meaning to you, so I would choose it.

Gavin is a more common name, so he will have an easier time with it in school.

Vox is an uncommon name, but sounds really cool.
Gavin is a nice name nonetheless.

It depends what his middle and last name'll be, one might fit better in the beginning of his name than the other.

My vote goes to Vox.

I'd pick Gavin, too many bad things rhyme with Vox--think about it--and kids can be cruel!
