Depends on the make and model of vehicle,if was not offered with a sunroof from factory as an option,I would not advise putting one in,it has to do with structural integrity, meaning the body will now flex,it may cause the windshield to leak or the sunroof to leak and quite possibly it will never seal properly.

Power retractable glass panel roof adds weight where you would not add weight. Possable leak. And some are almost as good as a stock sunroof. The times you use that 600 dollar thing will be when you get it and latter to see if the motor still works and one or two times in the spring. Novelity wears off very fast if the top of the car starts rattling or leaking.

I had a car that came with one. I wouldn't even recommend buying a car with that feature. Eventually, they all leak rain/water and although the 'tint' is supposed to block harmful UV sun rays, they don't do a good job. During the summer, a vehicle with a 'roof' is always hot ( turn up the AC and use more gas ), so my personal recommendation is "No way".

I had one installed on a used Focus by a reputable installer - worked great, no leaks, no problems. Make sure you ask around locally and use a shop people reccomend, and get a good warranty to back it up.

I put one in myself. Never had any leaks. It's really easy. All you need is a jigsaw and a screwdriver.
