This subject has come up a lot, but I was wondering if anyone has really gotten over that one "what if" person.

I met "the one that got away" when I was in high school, but we never dated, just "hooked up." We each had thought the other was not interested in a serious relationship. We had our trysts for a few years then I met my now husband and ended up losing contact with my friend (he got deployed to Iraq). 6 years after our last encounter we got in contact again (we have mutual friends), and the truth came out. We found out we both had had feelings for each other. We kept in contact for a year more being friends, but I could feel and I know he felt that it hurt knowing we would never know what could have happened. He'd hint to me that he'd wait for me, but it would never happen. I love my husband too much. We've since lost contact again. He's on his second tour in Iraq.

My question is has anyone gotten over that one person? I'd like to know if it's possible!

It takes time to get over any relationship. But it is even harder to get over the "ONE". It all just takes time...

Obviously, something is missing in your marriage if you are that upset about some guy from highschool. It's okay to love your friend in a childish, highschool sweetheart kind of way. However, your husband is who you love, who you married and who you focus on.

There's a reason that one got away: It wasn't meant to be ;)
