I'm a graphic design student looking to upgrade my dell latitude d600 until I can buy another computer. My laptop is completely factory.. and has 512 ram. I know you can never have too much ram but I just want to make sure I'm getting the hardware for my laptop to improve it for this problem.

I already know what memory I need and costs.. just looking for a general answer. Usually its Photoshop, Illustrator and Flash.

More RAM really helps a great deal. Visit http://www.coastmemory.com for a great deal and guarantee that it will work.

You should get 1GB. You will see 1024MB-DDR266, 266MHz, PC2100, 200p SODIMM, 2.5v, Sync for $89.

You will also see deals at Crucial, but they won't beat this price.

Good luck and Happy Computing!

The random access memory (RAM) is probably the best investment to make so you can use those memory-intensive programs together.

Eventually, you'll want a faster processer, too.

More RAM means that your computer can handle more at once. so yes, if you upgrade your memory, you'll be able to run more programs at once at faster speeds.

512 is low for graphic designing. Max it out and you'll be better off!

A better/faster CPU would also help.

Graphics RAM would help, too. Consider a better gfx card if you're mostly doing that..

I would definitely suggest having at least 1024MB of RAM for using those programs. 2048MB would be even better, if you want to use two or more of these programs at once.

Ram plays one part. Your processor has to play a role too. There is no use upgrading ur ram when ur processor speed is comparatively limited
