yes, you do. you should just keep taking them every day at the same time, regardless of spotting. It's normal and very expected to still be on your period when you take the first pill of the pack (read the insert- most of them explain this)
Make sure you never, ever, miss your first pill of the pack- missing that one highly increases your chances of pregnancy

Yes you should start taking the pill today. I recently went back to taking the pill and started taking it last week while on my period. The hormones will regulate your peroid and get you on a schedule.
