If you enter a chat room or open a messenger program; you have revealed yourself. But if you are just looking at websites, your Firewall and/or Router should keep you hidden.

If you have high speed, you probably should be using a router. If you have Windows XP with SP2, then you have Windows Firewall. Otherwise, you should be using a security program, or get Zone Alarm. Visit http://www.zonelabs.com and get the free version.

To the average user, yes there are ways you can mask your identity, but if you're thinking of trying to hide from the authorities, don't bother.... they seem to have their finger on the pulse these days. Just don't do anything stupid, and there is no need to hide anything. :)

For personal i.d , yes because you can falsify that , for ip address , no because it would be traced to your sevice providers .
