Ok, first the laptop:
Since this is the first time this has happened, has she tried a restart? Usually restarting the computer will reset the numlock back to off and that should solve that problem. If the problem still persists then I think this might be solvable from the BIOS, but this isn't something someone without technical knowledge should do.

The Logitech keyboard problem might simply be an order thing. My brother has a Logitech keyboard and mouse set, and the keyboard will only work if the mouse is synced wirelessly first, before the keyboard. I have had trouble with the syncing of this in the past, so it's all about being persistent and it'll work in the end.

The batteries in my logitech keyboard seem to last forever so it is very easy to forget that you're keyboard has them and when it stops working it can be a shock.

I haven't had a problem with the mouse needing to be synced first, the mouse was broken, so I only have the keyboard.

Press the button on the wireless sender, then mouse, then the sender again, then the keyboard.

T'is strange they're both now suddenely having problems.

Well from one Tracy to another...are the batteries good? (Keyboard and mouse)

Since I assume the have worked --- if they have never worked then the setup is still incorrect.

On the latop, the keyboard may have a loose connection to the motherboard. These usually connect using a "ribbon cable" and these are notorius for working loose. (Providing you did a reboot and still have the same issue.)

Try to reboot, that usually helps. If not that, try to completely shut down the laptop, wait 5 mins, then boot it back up. It should take Numlock off...

Secondly, for the desktop... Reboot, again that might work. If not that, unplug everything, then try to reconnect them.

The best of luck to you both.

Does she have a cat they are notorious for messing up your keyboard, mine keeps walking all over it,the only thing she can do is buy another keyboard and if she does have a cat keep it away from the computer.

My answer would be to do a system restore on both machines.
Start>All programmes>Accessories>system tools>System Restore to activate it, run through the windows and locate a date to restore to, yesterday would probably be your best bet, and then let it do it's work. Good luck.

she should get another keyboard it could be a factory default. These problems don't always show up right away.
