When pitchers come back from an injury or has not pitched in a while, it is very common for them to pitch a game or two in triple A or double A to make sure they are ready to pitch again. For example, when the Yankees signed Roger Clemens this year, he pitched a couple of games in Triple A or Double A before he started pitching for the Yankees.
