I have a snapper lawn mower and noticed a small oil leack by the gear box ( ground speed gear box?) it is self propeled.
I pull the plug and noticed it is empty . Is it supose to be filled with grease or oil?

Most gear boxes use gear oil. It is a thicker oil than the engine uses. I would contact a mower repair shop to see what weight oil is used in your mower.

I know this sounds really strange, but sniff the plug. If it really stinks, that's 90w gear oil. If it doesn't really stink too bad, it's grease.
