If you are using WMP put the track on a disk then simply rip the music from the disk but change the format to WMA, or other format of your choice. Then burn it too your new CD. It should then play on anything.
If you are not using WMP see if your software has any options which let you choice what file format you store the music you have ripped as. If it does then do the same as for WMP.
I hope this helps

The simplest way is to just use Windows Media Player to write the file to the CD - it will convert it to an audio format suitable for the CD player.
Microsoft wrote their own guide: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/windowsmediaplayer/getstarted/burncd.mspx
There are other programs available but to get you started:

Most of the "jukebox" programs will allow you to burn an "audio" CD. Most do it by default, i.e. iTunes.
Look through the properties of your jukebox program for burning a CD. Look for audio format.
