Many who lack conviction in their faith have come up with all kinds of interpretations of this. They love to throw the verse in our face that noone knows the "day or hour". But day and hour is rather specific.
The Word tells us when it will occur within the time frame of Revelation. It will be right before the Wrath of God period as foretold. During the time of the Seventh Angel with a Trumpet.
1 Corinthians 15 says at the "Last Trump"! Acts 1:11
that He will return "on a cloud". And in Revelation it clearly names this event. People want to play it off, because it means they will have to suffer some
before He comes. But the expression used to describe the man on the cloud in Revelation, is "Like unto the son of Man". This is the same expression John uses to describe the spirit that is Jesus Christ in the beginning if Revelation. It says now is the time to reap the Earth, because the harvest is ripe. The talk about the winepress of God throws many off, about all the blood. But blood is a symbolic term for our personal spiritual power.
It means Christ will purge our spirits of all the negative energies, the pain and sorrow within. So we CAN exist on the Higher Planes, where such things cannot!

You can't know the dates for sure however. If you look at one of the most specific prophecies that the generation that sees the rebuilding of Israel as a nation will see the return, it could be soon Israel became a homeland in 1916 as of the Balfour decleration in England during WWI, it became a recognized state in 1948 by a resolution from the U.N, In 1967 it recaptured Jerusalem, however another event that could be interpreted as the rebuilt Israel state could be the temple rebuilt, the spot of which is still held by Muslims and is known as the AL-asqa mosque, the third holiest spot in Islam where Muhhamed ascended into heaven, if that is the definition of the Israeli state existing again then we have a long time yet, but if the previous are true, then before the disco generation dies he will come back.

dougietrotter,
Get your bible and read Matthew Chapter 24 verse 36-50. People have been trying to read the signs of time for ages. I have heard all of my life and I am almost 46 that the end of time is drawing near. I still read and hear people trying to piece together parts of history regarding wars and trying to predict when the Lord will come. This is not possible.------
The Bilble says in Matthew 24:6-8, "You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come".....All these are the beginning of birth pains". Verse 36 states, " No one knows about the day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father". Verse 42 says, " Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come"..... Verse 44, " So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him".
God's time is not measured like our time.
Read Ecclesiastes Chapter 3. It explains "time". God has a time for everything, his time is not our time, and it is not for us to understand.
Don't worry about when the second coming will be, just make sure you are ready (saved) when the Lord calls you home. If you're still here when the second coming of the Lord comes, that means you either did not die saved before the rapture, or you did not make it in the rapture (were not saved and taken in the rapture). As a result, you have had to live through the Tribulation period. This will not be a pleasant period in time. You do not want to have to live through this period in time to see the second coming.
By the way, this question should not be listed under this heading, it is neither mythology or folklore. The coming of the Lord is a reality!
God Bless you in your search for answers.

Never! he said it would occur while some people hearing his sermon still lived. Only Mormons say any of those people still live and are called Nephrites. Jesus was already wrong about it, and that is strong evidence it will never happen.

No one actually knows. The Bible tells us that the Son Himself does not even know the day or the time. Only the Father knows.
However, I do think times on the earth will be getting worse right before He does come.
