I had a car in the 1973, a Camaro . The speedometer said 140 miles. got it to 130 one time. But, I really do not know if it was going that fast.
Now, I travel from Las Vegas to San Bernadino, Califronia ever so often. I have a truck and hit 100 several times on the ride. The cops leave you alone out there if you just drive and do not change lanes all the time. Average is 80 and as I said the cops never really hassle people.

I used to have a 1970 Plymouth Barracuda with a speedometer that went to 150 MPH and I buried that one night when I was much younger and more foolish, it was on an open stretch of highway.
