Hello,
The classification "Eurasian" refers to the offspring (child)
of a European and an Asian. The Philipine Islands were
colonized by the incursion of Portugese and Spaniards
several centuries ago. Both of these "root" groups are
considered by the experts as fitting the classification of
European. There are large numbers of pure-blood Filipinos
still living in the Islands even at late at 2007.

A lot of Filipinos are Eurasian but a lot are not. Although the PHilippines was colonized by Spain for a long time and although there are a lot of intermarriages with Europeans, most Filipinos are of Malay and Chinese mixture. This is because Filipinos belong to the Malay race and Chinese influence predates the arrival of Spaniards and other Europeans to the country.

No. They're not Eurasian. There are some countries in Central Asia like Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan (for example) where most people are Eurasian by blood (excluding the white Russians living there). These countries also live in the geographical territory that used to be called "Eurasia". Philippines is Asian through and through, even with some European influences. Why are so many Filipinos so eager to not be Asian? I have heard them say they were Pacific Islanders and therefore not Asian. Wtf? And now it's Eurasian? Less than 4% of Filipinos are Eurasian, meaning they have European blood.

No, they are not Eurasians.
BTW, Filipinos aren't Asian either, though they may identify with other Asians. They are Pacific Islanders. It's simply a matter of geography, not of history.

I don't think so. I think there are competing theories but they may be a little Eurasian here, a little Indochina there. remember the Japs were also home.
