Is it the fact that they have defended our country for over 200 years?

Is it the fact that they have fought in wars all over the planet for the freedoms of people they've never met,in countries they've never been to,and never asked for anything in return but a place to bury their dead?

Is it the fact that they have selflessly defended the rights of others with very little reward other than personal pride for a job well done?

Of course Libs always say they support and love the Military, but their actions by and large put the lie to that statement.

Liberals are usually too cowardly to actually place themselves in harm's way for their country. So, they resent those of us who do. The recognize their own cowardice, are ashamed of it but not ashamed enough to actually do anything about it. Look at Harry Reid. Telling our soldiers that they have already lost, and then insulting our military leadership. What military unit was he in? He's too much of a coward to actually serve his country in a meaningful way

There's a lot of sweeping generalizations in your commentary there. When I served I knew a few liberals and they certainly didn't hate the military. My mother's side of the family are all liberal and they've all served going back to the American Revolution.

With respect, I think a question like this only adds to the divisiveness here and in our country. One thing we can all agree upon is that a divided America only helps the terrorists. There is no reason to imply that someone who disagrees with you is a traitor.

I can't seem to figure that out, I live in ma and you see that everywhere, Though I am not in the military I am a military wife and I find it insulting and hurtful the was people carry on and on about certain things. There are people over there fighting and getting killed and they just want to complain about it. If they cared they would show love and support their country not saying that have to agree with everything but stop talking bad about there own country. Though it isn't just libs........

Your question is a good one.
The answer is that you identified the army as "they" and the reason they have performed so admirably, as you say, is because 'they' are 'us'. A civilian army with a commander-in-chief who is a civilian subject to political pressures. There are many liberals on the political scene. Liberals are dovish by nature and definition. There you have it.

You know, all I read is crap from everyone's mouth. Libs, cons,.... please enough already. It's a wonder that no one can get along. Why not agree to disagree and try to help each other instead of barking remarks that are not true with either side?
You people get to me after a while and then I don't go to answers anymore - it should read---- complaining people. Write your Senator or Congressman.... I love freedom of speech, but geeeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzzzz!!!

I am of the opinion that it begins with a hatred of authority. It's perceived as a direct threat to them. My wife and her entire family were/are liberals. It used to make her head spin when I would take her to the Marine Corps boot camp (MCRD San Diego), where I was stationed. We'd have long conversations on the way home. She's a conservative now. She sees and understands that we do things with great reason and purpose -- rarely ever do we do something based on "Feelings" or emotions.

They owe the military and they can't pay it off.

Liberals enjoy their protection, have given them freedom, and even pulled them out of the rubble after a disasters.

So they are in debt to these guys and they know there is no way they can pay it back.

By proposing the withdrawal of them from harms way, isnt that supporting them??? Doesnt the majority of Americans want a withdrawal? Dont Democrats want increased care and benefits for veterans? Hasnt the Bush administration and Rumsfeld treated the armed forces with complete contempt (not even personally signing letters of condolence to families)?

The problem with trigger happy Republican is that they dont fight smart wars, they are desparate to look tough with no clue about peripheral considerations, ((look at Iraq) You've got no idea what you're talking about.
