Yesterday, I had a yard sale and several people told me to have a nice day. But I showed them! I had a bad day cause I stayed married. Ha! (things haven't been going too well lately)
But hey, you can have a nice day just to spite me if you want - I don't mind.

just tonight actually.
i work in a call centre giving transport information and funnily enough the customers on the other end of the line tell me to have a nice day before i get the chance to wish them the same courtesy!

Us Brits are more likely to say 'have a good one mate'. I think 'have a nice day' is an American thing.

I hear this phrase at least 10 times a day. It makes me want to shout "I don't want to have a nice day." It seems like when a statement is way overused like this one that it loses all it's original meaning and just becomes some mindless drivel.

Yesterday morning, my I talked to my mom on the phone and she said have a nice day and I did, my 12 yr. old son won his baseball game 12-9!!!....then we went out to eat to celebrate.
