Don't worry about the world. Start with yourself. The best way to ensure the world improves is by starting with our own - and we can do that! Then you end up inspiring others, which spreads more - like a pay it forward.

The marriages that last are those where both spouses love each other so much that they're willing to do things for the other, and watch for opportunities to do so. When things get difficult (as they will do because life changes all circumstances) the commitment part is the promise you make to continue to work at it and see the dry, uninspired times through.

When it's the right person, marriage is not that difficult - it's wonderful!

And by the way, the "right" people are usually filled with kindness - a trait that is not as glamorous as great body, looks or money.

Spouses who leave soon learn that they must do everything for themselves - which is basically the same problem they started with in an empty-feeling marriage. So why not try kindness first with the spouse? IT WORKS.

Actually the divorce rate is down, so by your theory the world is actually becoming a better place.

Though the divorce rate is down, I believe so is the basic morality of society as well. Things that most would have considered immoral or shameful 20 years ago are now common and almost accepted (like threesomes in committed relationships, or choosing to have children out of wedlock).

As the end of days come, people will be shallow , lovers of self, fighting one another, never satisfied with others, looking only to be served and hating any one who gets in the way of their personal pleasure. And so it goes...
but there are still lots of good people left in the world. find them and gather them as friends. Friends are worth more than gold!
( except to the selfish)

This world is an immoral place.
None of us can change those within it. We only have control over our own actions and in mentoring children that are coming up in it. Be the best that you can be. Be an example for everyone around you.
Choose your friends wisely and always remember that it's easier for someone to Pull you down than it is for YOU to Lift them up.

Usually the problems with marriages are immaturity and selfishness, people just not ready to commit to a lifetime together.
Also, there are fewer good spellers in the world ('scrood up'???).

I totally agree - it's all about "what's best for ME" and "what makes ME happy?" People are much more selfish and forgot what it is to sacrifice oneself for the good of another person. Don't get me wrong, I'm not excluded from that group and when I recognize that I'm being selfish, I have to slap myself and stop thinking that way!

The Goal is to contribute to another persons happiness*... If that other person is not happy within themselves, there is nothing you can do or say to them to make them happy**... In the final analysis you cannot make anyone happy, you can only contribute to the happiness they already have within themselves*...
