I need to get a car that i can sleep in the back with the seat folded flat. I am 6'2. I am thinking or VW Passat, Astra or a Skoda Octavia. I don't want a van. I need a diesal as I cover a lot of miles. Any other ideas would be great thank you!

The Austin Maxi - it's unique selling point was that all the seats folded completely flat, turning the entire car interior into a bed.

Depends a lot on how deep your pockets are. A car with a full fold down back seat will usually only give you about 6 feet of space The large Hyundai will give you 6'3' and now comes with a common rail diesel which is very economical

My wife's Honda Element has fold-down seats for comfort, you can stretch back across the front AND back seats, so that's a LONG way. Or you could go for an old '50's or '60's Rambler, they had reclining seats for bedding, too. Even some Ramblers in the '40's had that feature. No diesel option there, though. :)

How about a Nissan Primera estate? They have quite a high roof. My husband can get a weeks worth of fishing and camping gear in his, and still have room to move. Don't know if they are avaialble with a diesel engine, but I would think so. The newer ones are a much nicer shape now.

Volvo V70 estate is your best bet. I have 1 which is a 2.5l diesel and it does 50mpg. The boot is huge and with the back seats down you could easily sleep quite comfortably.

Volvo estate? They're enormous. Or you could just get a room at a hotel like a normal person. Or buy a camper.

How about a hearse?

Just kidding.

I think a VW passat would be uncomfortable unless it was a hatchback.

I'd go for the peugeot 406 or 407 HDI, they are very roomy and comfortable and have excellent engines that go on forever.
