It seems like there are only two sets of views in the country. Democrat or Republican. What about what a person believes in? It seems like the politicians are trying to please their party, instead of seeing what's right for the people. Like if a Democrat is pro-war or a Republican is pro-abortion, they will be blasted by their fellow parties and people, so it seems they have to change their views to be "democrat" or "republican". Why can't people just discuss their own personal views, even if you support both the Patriot Act and Stem Cell Research? Then the people decide our president, as always?

The founding fathers were against a 2 party system for just that reason. Problem is now, that the 2 parties have so much $ and power, it's nearly impossible to change the system (at least, not very quickly).

In a perfect world you would vote for the person that comes closest to your own beliefs. That person would belong to a political party that closely supported his views. The party's platform should reflect the beliefs of most of the parties members. There can, and should be, "wiggle" room because no one is in 100% agreement with anyone else. That being said it is a given that both the party and it's members are at least reasonably truthful in statements of their core beliefs and reasonably honest in their actions.... However this is becoming less and less the case. Things need to change!

Lots of people are tired of political parties. But they don't have enough organization to win elections, so they don't have enough power to do anything about it. Ha.

Yes, we are tired of them. They are no more to defend the people's interest. They are there just to serve the rich and to lobby for the haves. If you don't call me anarchist, I wish if we dissolve all these government and start to govern ourselves.

I don't know, but I pray that a peace lover (Ron Paul, Kucinoch, Obama) will, please God, be elected president.
