We live in Southern California and we're looking for a motorcycle. We could go retail or online. Checked the cycletrader, any other ideas?

You will have less competition through the newspaper or craigslist, but they may be a bit more firm in their asking price. eBay could be a bit of a hassle, but you have some legal protection, albeit minute. If you are in no rush, I would go for the local route and try to buy from the paper or craigslist. As for the internet, if you check a government auction site, you have no idea what you are getting and you won't save much money there. Cycle Trader seems to be more expensive than eBay. Sorry to give you this obvious advice, but there really is not some hidden website with big big savings.

I bought my current bike (an 87 Harley FLHTC) off Ebay three years ago. It was a great experience and I got it at far less than value and far less than a similar bike was being sold for through a local dealership. My vote is for Online. Good Luck
