"And if you punish, you shall inflict an equivalent punishment. But if you resort to patience (instead of revenge), it would be better for the patient ones." (16:26)

"...anyone who kills any person who had not committed murder or horrendous crimes, it shall be as if he killed all the people. And anyone who spares a life, it shall be as if he spared the lives of all the people..." (5:32)

"Exempt those who join a people with whom you have concluded a peace treaty, and those who come to you with hearts unwilling to fight you, nor to fight their relatives. Had God willed, he could have placed them in power over you and they would have made war on you. Therefore, if they leave you alone, refrain from fighting you, and offer you peace, then God gives you no way to go against them." (4:90)

"Fight in the cause of Allah against those who fight against you, but do not transgress limits. Lo! Allah loves not aggressors. ...And fight them until persecution is no more, and religion is for Allah. But if they desist, then let there be no hostility except against transgressors." (2:190, 193)

Kill them whenever you confront them and drive them out from where they drove you out. (For though killing is sinful) wrongful persecution is even worse than killing. Do not fight against them near the Holy Mosque unless they fight against you; but if they fight against you kill them, for that is the reward of such unbelievers. 2:191

Don't you think truth and fairness is better?

ruth - How very PC of you.

Perhaps this will clear it up for ya.

btw - do you have that link to info about the school you claim was shutdown by the aclu?

2007-06-17 01:12:02 · update #2

A person - I didn't notice you abrogating - now did you? fact is you have a one sided view, and it's purely a bigoted one. If as you claim, you studied islam - you would know this. The only possible conclusions to draw are A. You didn't. and B. You're bigoted. That effectively negates the rest.

2007-06-17 01:25:29 · update #3

Sure - and I'm jesus risen. Lying bigot.

2007-06-17 01:46:20 · update #4

Hmm - in the meantime I did some googling and came up with this;
1. I found the story of Everett Sileven and a church school in Nebraska.
2. They were shutdown by the sheriff because the NEA wanted to certify the teachers. Only.
3. After much nastiness and locking of doors, and jailing of Sileven and some parents - the nebraska governors panel decided to drop the case due constitutional concerns. Win?
4. Nowhere did I find any mention of the ACLU on either side of the debate.

As for my nasty atheism - that's just the nasty fundie coming out in you. I find you to be the single most weaselly person on these boards - always changing the post when caught up, and always arguing in circles. I find your constant self righteous attitude in defense of "our traditions and culture" to be hypocritical and perverse.

"Theism and secular humanism cannot co-exist. One will rule, the other will serve or die." Everett Sileven

Is this the man? No answer means yes

2007-06-17 02:32:56 · update #5

Exactly the answer I expected. It was Sileven.

Yes I'm intolerant - of phonies, hypocrites, and liars. No one else.

Now I'm off to the church of evolutionary global warming secular humanistic moral relativism so I can pray to my nothing god of rationality and science to save us from the non believers.

Have a nice day.

The raving lunatics on here who post questions which are not backed-up with facts, yes. People who support a way of thinking such as being either for or against abortion, not so much, even though it is legal I can see where some people would have a problem. If you can back up what you say with accurate facts, no, even if that is all the person ever posts. I do not like the republican style of politics, at least today's style and that is mostly what I post about but I don't say things that aren't true, and truth be told, I don't really care for either party it's why I have been an Independent for more than a dozen years.

What are you asking here? In general, around here, most people don't provide ANY support for their statements. Particularly when they are bashing the President or someone else it is PC to bash.

If you are talking about Islam, take it to religion. I know almost nothing about Islam, except that I cannot abide its intolerance.

ADDED: Nope. No link. You might have noticed I mentioned it sort of got "missed" by the media. But possibly, if you feel the desire to know beyond taking my word for it, it would be in the local paper (It was widespread across NE. Also, Cali tried it around the same time. circa 1983). 700 Club came and ran an interview, but I'm sure you wouldn't consider that a valid link. And Argle, I appreciate that you believe you somehow set the standard for civility, fairness and justice, but on this entire board, no one demonstrates more hatred for the traditions and cultures of their nation than you. And that's just my opinion, but I've been around here a good bit.

And I do not really know what your "that's PC of you" means. You will rarely find me criticizing anything about Islam. I close my eyes and grant them the same freedom of religion that our Constitution grants me (same as I do for your rights to be an atheist jerk, incidentally). I sort of stop short at the part where they want Sharia law, same as I would if Pat wanted the theocracy you people keep claiming he wants. LOL

>>>>>>It wasn't Silevan. Of course, he would get the media attention, he was a gun-toting radical. Try again.>>>>> And the thing is, Argle, you would shut me up if you could. Conversely, I think that you actually help my position by the intolerance you spew. And maybe, you can lobby Yahoo to get rid of the edit function. Hope that helps. :)

How approximately the truth that she is going to bankrupt the nation with Hillary Care? Or the billions that she is going to spend at the Baby Bond? Or the truth that now not most effective will Social Security be long gone, however she desires manipulate of your 401K too? ect, ect, ect!

If you studied the Koran, like I did, you will learn that there is a concept called abrogation (nasekh and mansoukh). In this concept, verses are replaced with other verses if they are chronologically after them. All the verses you provide have been abrogated by the ones I provide. Study Islam well, really well, and then come and post again.

PS: In reply to your previous comment, I think it is more uncivil to support the protection of a hate filled ideology than to criticize it. By your defintion, it would be uncivil to criticize Nazism.

I do not choose which verses to abrogate, neither do you. That is the job of Islamic scholars. The verses you provide are all abrogated (I have an MSc in Islamic studies), the ones I provide are the abrogating verses. When Islamic scholars say that verses supporting killing, misogynism and racism are the words of God, it is bigoted NOT to critizice them.
