Hi Jeannie!
Basic Carpet Stain Formula I
This should help eliminate the odor!

* 1 cup vinegar
* 1 cup water
* 1/2 cup baking soda

Mix well in a spray bottle. Blot accidents with dry towels, paper towels or even a baby diaper if you have one, and then spray, blot excess and let dry. (Don't use a scrub brush because you could split the carpet fibers if you rub too vigorously. This can be repeated if the odor lingers.

Hope your son feels better!

Oddly enough my sister-in-law and I were talking yesterday and this exact topic came up. It happened to her when her little boy threw up on the carpet and even though she cleaned it the smell just wouldn't go away for days. This is what she did. She completely covered the entire area with baking soda (very thick) and placed towels over it. Then she left it for an entire day. After she pulled up the towels she vacuumed the carpet (it was shag-like) and that was what finally got the smell out! Good luck!

Try sprinkling the area with powder (baby powder or perfumed powder works good, or baking soda) on the DRY carpet.. don't use these if it's damp or you'll have a bigger mess.. wait for about 15 minutes and vaccum... Also try rubbing the spot with white vinegar..
