I've just moved to Chicago, and I'm trying to find some new girlfriends, but I have no idea where to start. It's not as simple as finding people with common interests - I'm looking for people I'm similar to in personality. I've tried looking for people on Myspace and Craigslist, and struck out there. Is there anything like speed dating for friendships?

I can relate to your worries, i too find it hard to meet friends on the same level as me, and a nightclub is not a good place to find a friend, yes they may be friendly when drunk, but i know people who are complete b*tches when theyre sober.
When i meet new friends i try to find ones with some of the same interests as me, and i meet them half way. try some of the same interests they have and just enjoy the friendship you have. Being too picky may limit friends as no 2 people are alike. And finding friends on chat sites isnt a smart move as there are too many lies and too many wierdos out there. and the last thing you need is to have someone stalk you or god forbid something worse, just be wary.
I personally like the volunteering at a charity to be good, as you can get to know people in person. or join a sports club or any clubs you like.
Good luck with the friend hunting i wish you the best of luck and wonderful times ahead with future friends you meet.

Speed dating, hmmmm? Could be a good idea! Look at all the different places you go & the things you do for enoyment, hobbies, entertainment, etc. to make social contacts with a bunch of people that have common interests. As for websites, try friendfinder.com Good luck!

Hi, I know it's hard to have new friends all over again, but what I will do is be very friendly and I won't be shy to tell them who I really am (my personality) to whoever I first introduced and talked to and people who liked what I told them will come to me and talked to me about everything and I have to take it from there, see who best describes me by what they say, and I am sure you would find at least 1friend from that .The other most important thing is be easy going and don't be judgmental let them tell you whatever they want people say everything about their self when they feel you won't judge them.If you need me I will be here.
I hope I've been helpful

the best way is to pursue your most passionate interests, because that's where you'll find people like you. You also have to be patient.
