The methods that work best for phobias have shown to be Systematic Desensitization, a procedure mentioned above. In some methods of using that procedure some people use hypnosis or a procedure very similar to hypnosis in which the person imagines different situations with a spider. The spider gets closer and closer. My pairing these images with relaxation techniques, which must be learned before using the imaging, the person begins to overcome their fear. Many therapists eventually introduce live spiders into the sessions to test the effectiveness of the treatment. By relaxing in the presence of spiders, the situation proves to the person that they can actually coexist with spiders and that their fears are not grounded.
Like the other person said, most spiders are harmless, basically, and you have to be in specific places to know where they are not harmless. Reading up on them helps. Knowledge is power. Good luck.

Well first off, I'm sorry to hear about your fear. Being hypnotised works on some people and doesn't work on others. I think it's the ones who believe in it that it actually works on. My mom was afraid of flying, got hypnotised and isn't now, so who knows. I would just confront the fear... have a male you know find a spider that is completely harmless and cannot hurt you no matter what... Let it crawl in your hand and on your arm and you will see how harmless they are.. Sure some of them are harmful but look at it this way, you are well over 50 times their size.. Who should be afraid of who? Good Luck :)

I honestly don't know. Tried hypnosis once (for something else)- didn't take
.
I am the same way about bugs. Any kind of bug. What does help is learning something about them, their habits, their lifestyles, how they reproduce, what they eat, what kind are poison, what kind are beneficial, etc. Figure out why they're here in the first place.

Face your fear and conquer it. You may always be afraid but you will be better able to handle it.

Good luck.

No, I know for a fact that will NOT work. I've been bitten by a Brown Recluse before so I don't like spiders either.
