Who wants to watch a bunch of hoodlums play basketball anyway? It's so much different than it was when I used to watch basketball.

It's all about the gangster thing now... It really sucks...

It's not the tattoos. It's all the brawls and stuff that goes on these days. Fighting with fans and off court behaviors.

You know, my first impression of the guys with tattoos is that they look thuggish. However, it represents prejudice to assume simply because a person has tattoos that they are a thug. It is racist to assume that because a person is white they are automatically a racist too. It is short sighted to make assumptions about people based upon their appearance.

I live in Southern California and a lot of young white people live around me. The all seem to have tattoos but I try not to make assumptions about them. I think they are all going through a phase that they will live to regret soon.

Basketball is NOT as good as it used to be. Kevin McHale said this would happen. He said that expansion of the league would dilute the talent. Couple that with the fact that guys are not going to college to develop and the problem only gets bigger.

For every Kevin Garnett and LeBron James you will have many Felipe Lopez type guys.

no surprise...all the advertising and tv trailers show guys high flying, dunking...always dunking...but never showing what really wins playoff games...gritty defense, unselfish play, rebounding, and shooting free throws well... the same reason that the supposedly 'entertaining' teams didnt make it to the finals this year...the warriors, the mavs, the heat, and the suns just to mention the primary culprits did not play fundamentally sound and consistent defense well enough to advance... real basketball fans know this, its the fringe and bandwagon fans that dont get it and cry that their teams got 'cheated' or other such nonsense while in reality, they are just rooting for the 'flash' not the 'substance'... if you held a persons family ransom and told them they would have to bet successfully on a team to get thru the playoffs they would use good sense rather than passion and bet the 'boring but efficient team' every time... and for the record I agree with the above poster that quoted a NBA general manager when he said the constant expansion would dilute the talent pool in the league...

I'm not surpirse that it was the lowest tv attendance record in NBA's history...The Spurs plays a boring game and the Cleveland is all about a player calling himself "KING"! BORING!!! That's the only reason why most people won't watch them playing, but if it were Kobe(LAKERS) and some other team like SHAQ(HEAT) the rating would be so high that i would even beat the sopranos. That's the fact you all should know. Exciting teams (even if their average teams) makes people want to watch them, and players such as Kobe, hey who wouldn't watch a player like him. With players like Manu, Duncan, and Bowen, who would want to watch these guys? Spurs and other fans that loves and have passion for basketball are the only ones who will watch them play.

Every spectrum of society now has tatoos, this question is border line racist. Don't blame that that Detroit fiasco as a reason not to like basketball and then determin that they are all thugs, in fact you got 10 Cincinnati Bengals running into trouble with the law, don't let me get started with Pac Man Jones...but I don't hear anyone talking about Boycotting the Superbowl. In Baseball, you got steroids, you got players cheating on their wives in every city, then beating the sh!t out of their wives at home....You still are going to watch the World Series..espeacially if your team is in it....Now if you don't like to watch basketball because you think the level of play is bad now, say that. But to stereotype a whole league because of one or two of its players is Bi-polar is just wrong, and shows your ignorant way of thinking....the last time I checked, nobody on the NBA Champion Spurs team have ever been
arrested....or been accused of being a thug. Sorry that its way different than when you used to watch basketball, these players today can jump higher, and are way more athletic than the players were when you watched it. Lets kick all the brothas out of the league and see what kind of basketball will be played.....lets make the N.B.A. stand for No Blacks Allowed....maybe that will appease the corporate America as well as yourself.......Idiot!

People want to watch exciting games, and according to the daily media, the Spurs are boring. And no one wants to watch a boring team of course. A dynasty-caliber team mismatched against a No-Defense, inexperienced Cavs team is probably the reason for the low ratings.

Well, combine a mismatch of unflashy teams with crap for production (that annoying camera on cables is one example), you get low ratings.

As to your hoodlums reference, yes, there is a gangsta rap flavor to the league. I am not fond of it, but it doesn't stop me from watching.

As to fights and like that, those are the very rare exception that get overblown due to the media perfusion and highlight-oriented brains of both the media and the public. I have not seen a fight during a game I have watched in many years. The closest I saw in person was McHale's takedown of Rambis in the 1984 Finals. (Both of those guys are whiteys, btw.) No fight resulted, but unfortunately (to me) that act changed the tempo of the series and the Celtics won in seven games.

No, most people hate Spurs because they're boring according to them. And this finals series was also a mismatch. Cavs cannot beat the Spurs. After Game 1 or even before Game 1, you already know who will take the championship. But I enjoyed this finals because Spurs won.

Not any suprise. The Mavs, Miami series last year grew low numbers. The Spurs are a low tempo, defensive team along with Cleveland. Lebron can't bring the ratings up by himself although he helped.

i admire a number of it. i think of portland is approximately to have a monster twelve months and ought to attain the finals in the event that they are able to stay wholesome. do no longer think of the magic will keep dwight for the full twelve months and definately do no longer think of that the celtics will end with greater wins than the knicks. warmth will play the Knicks in some unspecified time sooner or later in the playoffs commencing the classic opposition of this decade

low tv appearance results from mismatch,if the spurs-cavs match were closely fought and it reaches seven games, then the TV attendance would definitely be much higher as it would generate excitement
