If someone doesn't like certain answers, why can't they just move to the next, without giving thumbs down.

If someone is being an *** about something or it is really crude about a delicate subject then I would give a thumbs down , but if it was just not a good answer in general than I would just move on.

It can be hurtful, but sometimes it is just some childish person trying to make an impact ... in some categories, people go through ALL the questions and put thumbs down on anyone who they think is not agreeing with them!
It's best to just ignore them, then they can't get a 'kick' out of your response!
Yahoo Answers can be lots of fun, don't let the trolls and mean spirited members spoil it for you.

Maybe it was a really sucky answer. But yeah. I know how you feel. Someone put a thumbs down on my answer. It felt like a total slap in the face.

It it really deserves a thumbs down because its rude or off the topic.. then why not?
If its just being mean then that's very sad.

beats me too, thankfully i get best answer on my thumbed down answers, so it doesnt matter to me anymore. as long as the asker will choose wisely
