The birth control pill is mainly taken by women who do not wish to become pregnant. These women can have sex with a very risk of becoming pregnant. If taken correctly, the pill stops ovulation (the release of the egg from the ovary) it also thickens the cervical mucus so sperm cannot travel into the uterus.

Other women take the pill to help with their mentrusal cycles. It helps regulates their cycles or decrease their cramps or decrease heavy bleeding.

Some studies give evidence that these things do weird stuff to ya. Even birth defects when you DO one day give birth to any children, in worst case. I don't the detailed links on it right now, but... OK, I found one in my archives, link is below, read point 5 of the article on "pill goggles". You go on the pill and it affects who you're attracted too. Another article which I lost, said it changes you from attracting to men different from you to men similar to you (via pheromones). Then it's similar to 2 cousins marrying, and birth defects are then likely for any children they have.

So beware if you were planning on using them. There's negatives along with the positives. To avoid giving birth try the old fashioned natural way: avoid sex with men. Otherwise it will be a definite danger, because things happen. Wait until you get married or so. Just takes a little training of your self-control power. We're all in the same boat, self control is valuable to learn. Better than giving in to peers. You're young. Age 20s or 30s until marriage and so, no problem. There's plenty else to try our interest on in this life.

The 2nd link is not fully related but speaks on birth control methods of women.

Birth control pills are taken, most logically, to prevent pregnancy.

Some people take them for medical reasons, though. Women are on the pill for severe cramping during their periods. Women are on the pill to help shrink ovarian cysts.

I myself am on Yaz birth control, strictly to alleviate PMDD (premenstrual dysphoric disorder) symptoms. It has literally saved my life. I don't need it for birth control, as I had the Essure procedure done back in 12/04.

Well it keeps you from getting pregnant, and without the hassle of contreceptives, although it doesn't help prevent diseases like condoms, it is much more effective at preventing pregnancy.

I don't like BC pills, as I forget to take them on time, and am mildly morally opposed to them, which is not to say I don't take hormonal birth control at some points, just that i feel bad when I do!

That kind of seems like a silly question to me. People take it for "birth control"......the prevention of pregnancies. However...it is also sometimes used to regulate a woman's hormone cycle. In the past it has been used to help with the treatment of endimetriosis. (spelling might be off).
Generally though, for the prevention of pregnancies!
