okay, so i plan on visiting berlin, germany next month or so. I have read that the drinking age is supposedly 16. Well, I am 17. So if I were to go to a bar in germany, without my parent, could I order a beer, or a shot of liquor or something provided that I show my ID? And would they accept my passport as a legal form of ID? All I have for ID is my passport and my state of virginia ID.

16 for beer and wine and 18 for distilled alcholic beverages meaning anything other than beer and wine

The legal drinking age does not apply when drinking in private. Minors in possession of alcohol are not punished, however people who make alcohol available to minors are. "Minors" meaning people under 16 or 18 depending on the beverage...

Lol passport and ID should do if you don't look quite old enough or if they ask for it...

xD lol have fun drinking and try to stay sober enough to get back to the airport in one piece....

They will not ask for your Id to drink. I think the age is 15 but they don't care. The only place you may get checked is at certain night clubs on your way in. They will want 18 and unders to be out by a certain hour. Like 12 or 1. But you can drink all you want up too that point. And not all clubs even care about getting you out. Believe me, you are going to party in up! Have fun.

Yep. Passport will do, will be no problem getting a drink.
Have fun - I was supposed to do just like you...right around the same time as well, but wasn't going to be able to get a passport in time :(

I thought their drinking age (for beer) was three.
Just go in and order and they probably won't ask for i.d.
Honestly I don't know the exact laws.
