Its a very good question. While we are indeed three dimensional beings, we also exist in something called time. Time and gravity being common to all 11 dimensions according to super string theory. If super string theory is correct, and I believe that it is, as large being in three dimensions plus time, we are constantly moving into/out of/ and through all 11 dimensions of space-time. Because the other 6 or 7 dimensions are curled up so tightly that we are not able to feel their effects directly, we only sense the three large dimensions and time. Now, here is something that has bothered me for a while: what if the 6 or 7 other small curled up dimensions only appear that way relative to our observed, effect, large four dimensions? Maybe a being in one of the other four dimensions that we cannot directly experience, might actually view their dimensions as being the large ones, and ours as being the small curled up ones? Do you see what I'm getting at here? Maybe the concept of large and small dimensions is relative, simply a matter of what four dimensions of the 11 you happen to find yourself operating in.

Food for thought.

The time is NOT a dimesion, the dimensionality of time was coined to make a more convenient mathematical apparatus. We are in 3 dimensions and we experience incresing of the enthropy. The ireversibility of time can clearly tell you that it is not natural to consider it as a dimension. It is just a conceptual dimension in many relativistic theories.

we are energy, space is the media through which energy performs, and time is merely our perception of the duration of these actions of energy in relation to the characteristics of space. All things that exist are part of a ratio, in order for a triangle to be a triangle it has to have three sides. a,b,and c., otherwise it would just be a right angle. produce that angle times three and connect the sides ababab and voila, you have a three dimensional model, unfortunately there is no percievable way to create a model of time, therefore it becomes a little complicated to percieve...remember, the three elements of three dimensional existance are matter, time, and perception, but einstein said that time is the fourth dimension and God if the fifth dimension. Anyway to answer your question I believe that we are in all of the above, we just haven't realized it yet.

All four. Space has three dimensions, up/down, left/right, forward/backward. And time. We directly experience all four.
