well if it wasn't all balled up like that it would be sticking out of your hind end and dragging 100 yrds behind you. each time a person accidently stepped on it your digestion would be disrupted. It would take forever to pass yesterdays dinner.

All the folds, convolutions and crypts within the small intestine are there to increase the surface area for absorption of nutrients once they have broken down. The length is about 6 metres (20-22 feet), but the convolutions increase this many times. Below is a summary web page with more info.

it has its own purpose- maybe it's just because of its effect on the glands that absorbs the nutrients it digests on the food intake----everything has it's own purpose ; all that is created by God!
