I saw a woman buy cigarettes for some kids hanging around the gas station. What would be the penalty for her if she was caught?

Possible jail and she can bail out that same day, or a ticket, but will have to appear in court and most likely get a huge fine depending on what state she lives in. Also they will take a look at her past and see if this is her first offense. Another thing is it will have to be proven, either by you or the kids or if the store has surveillance. Either way, she could get the max sentence for it or she could walk away free.

It would depend exactly what she is charged with, in addition to supplying the cigarettes to a minor, she could also be charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Both are misdemeanors.

It would depend on the Judge that hears the case; penalties could start be less than $100 or up to $1,000 if she has been caught previously, pluss Court costs and could end up being being sentenced up to 90 days in jail for each charge, community service, probation or no time at all; it would depend the Judge and the circumstances and her prior record.

she would pay a fine around 200-300 or so..it is an arrestable offense however...they are rarely prosecuted and considered low priority.
