How do i extend my desktop to my TV? It only lets me switch between the two.?

I have a Pavillion 1616n. My second monitor is my tv, connected by s-video. When i check the box that reads "extend my windows desktop onto this monitor" it unchecks itself after i press "apply changes" or "OK". I just want two monitors so that i can watch movies on one and type on the other. I am baffled. Somebody PLEASE HELP!

I would say try updating the drivers to your video card, could possible be the problem.
