I got the dealership to put on a trailer tow hitch package, they said it was the best one. I need to know if it can pull the tent trailer or not. will it be too heavy? The trailer is equipped with an anti-sway bar. I've already looked for answers at the dodge dealership website...but no answers.Lost the manual. Please help.

That trailer has a GVWR of 3450 lbs. This is rather heavy for a front wheel drive van. The factory towing capacity is 3700 lbs for a Caravan, and 3500 for a Grand Caravan. (with the tow package on both)

You will be within towing limits, but you are pushing the envelope. If you load the van with passengers and provisions, and have the trailer loaded up too, you are going to be putting a lot of wear on the van!!

I'd check out the tow hitch to find out what brand it is so you can verify the rating it can support. Next you need to know the weight of the trailer. The information I have below says it should be okay if the hitch can support 3800lbs and the trailer is 3450lbs loaded but you need to verify what you have on the caravan and the actual weight of the trailer.

You need to know the towing capacity of your vehicle. The dealerships can tell you how much. Then you need to knw how much your trailer, plus the load weighs. If it exceeds the capacity of the vehicle, don't tow it. Oh, that includes the occupants and baggage that is in the vehicle also..
