I always believe the only way to handle this situation is to sit down with them and to be very straightforward and honest with them about everything in a way that will hurt them the least way possible. No matter what this is going to extremely hard. Once it is over with, it'll be very awkward and maybe even an emotional time of some sort, but in the long run it will be over and done with.

Just say that. Say.."I have something to tell you. It's killing me. I haven't been completely honest about something."

I think most people would be ok with it. I wouldn'y worry. Really.

I just come out and tell them that I wasn't being honest, but tell them it was for a good reason and not to be mad, that when you did tell them they would be

quickly, like a band aid! clear your conscious, you'll feel better. ok, not at first, 'cause the person you were dishonest with is going to feel bad and so will you, but you will have done what needed to be done. oh yeah, if theres a possibility you will be harmed do it over the phone.

get into a conversation about honesty and half way through say something about how you weren't totaly truthfull. then tell them the truth and tell them your sorry and why you lied
