Time is a measure of the rate at which something changes. For example If you time yourself walking from one end of the road to another, a normal clock might say it's taken you 5 minutes.

Let's say you were eating some grapes while you were walking. A different timing system might say that it's taken you 30 grapes to walk that distance. While that's a valid system, it's also slightly silly and doesn't work very well because you might eat 2 or 3 grapes at a time and some grapes might take longer to eat that others, so the rate at which you are eating grapes is not constant. If the next day you walked the same way but only ate 20 grapes then the system clearly doesn't work properly!

So, you could invent your own time system and tell everyone that there were only 10 hours in a day, and each hour had 100 minutes and so on, but it would get very confusing for you and everyone else.

That's why a standard system of measurement was agreed upon and adopted, and this system is the one currently in use today.

Look at the link I've given and it'll tell you exactly how a second is defined, as well as a bit of history about different measuring systems.

many people think that time is constant. but this is totally wrong. in special theory of relativity, it is stated that the only constant thing on the universe is light - while time and mass is relative. for example, let us imagine there's twins : A and B. when they're 30, A leave the earth and travels with light speed, when A come back to earth, B is 40 already, but A is only 35. in simpler way, there is time loss when something is travelling with the speed of light (3x10^8 m/s). this happened because when something is travelly with the speed of light, the metabolism system speed in a human body decrease. for example, in earth, a cell will split into two in 5 seconds. but, in light speed, a cell will split into two in 3 seconds. the 2 seconds is time loss.

so, i can describe time as the changing of something. there is no time in the universe, people create it and name it time because there are changes that can be seen. for example, we can say that it's 12 o'clock when the sun is up in the sky, and so on.

This might seem like a stupid answer to a stupid question, but after analyzing, the question is quite intelligent and practical....

Time, conscious experience of duration, the period during which an action or event occurs. Time is also a dimension representing a succession of such actions or events. Time is one of the fundamental quantities of the physical world, similar to length and mass in this respect. The concept that time is a fourth dimension—on a par with the three dimensions of space: length, width, and depth—is one of the foundations of modern physics. Time measurement involves the establishment of a time scale in order to refer to the occurrence of events. The precise determination of time rests on astronomical and atomic definitions that scientists have established with the utmost mathematical exactness.

Hope you find this useful...!!

For me there is no time. It's just a way for expressing the relation between things together, i.e. (velocity and distance), (energy and power), (velocity and acceleration), etc....
Eternity means no consumption of time which doesn't exist already.
