i just bought two beutiful angelfish (freshwater) yesterday, and today when i came home they were both belly up! my tank has cycled with 4 zebra danios for a month and are thriving, so the bio filter is well established...my only guess is that they came with a disease from the store, any suggestions?

p.s. i tested my water and my all my pH, NO3, NO2, GH, and KH levels are all perfect

An article I once read suggested that when deaths in a tank are all new fish, look to the water quality - there's something that the existing fish have adapted to that the new fish haven't.

Along those lines, I notice the tank's only been running a month, so unless you did a fishless cycle, your tank may not be fully cycled yet. And depedning on the tank size, the addition of two angels would have increased the amount of ammonia produced. You don't give a reading for ammonia, so this might be your problem. You also don't mention the temperature of the tank, so they may have had a temperature shock if what they were kept in was very different and there wasn't a long enough acclimation time.

It's still possible they already had a problem from the store (stress from shipping, parasites, etc.), though.

Many reasons it could have died:

picked on by other fish, different ph range, just a sick fish in general before you got it home.

One of those reasons... could be shock from the trip ride home as well. Fish can only survive so much especially when they are moved around alot, i wouldn't sweat it

Believe it or not they are both community fish and they would love being together.

Highly suggested such as other members did not to put them both in a tank that small, cory's need at least a 20 gallon as they are bottom feeders and need a ncie open space, prefer planted tanks aswell.

Fish are territorial. They do not like when others come into the situation. It is advisable for you to change the tank around when adding new fish. This distracts the current fish from the new fish. Also you need to acclimate the new fish to the temperature of the water. The shock of just a few degrees is enough to kill them if you do not let them adjust slowly.

If you bought 2 males it is also possible you managed to pit them against each other. They could have killed each other. For some reason they can keep males together in a tank in the store but when you get them home and into your tank they fight.

angelfish baffle me. the last one i had i think died from kidney failure from a salt bath -- but i have never heard anything about them being overly salt sensitive. he started doing cartwheels and then got bloated and died. its the one fish i have always had problems with.

i think they have problems travelling because of their weird center of gravity -- also i have learned not to float closed bags -- its long and involved and i don't understanding but it messes up fish. just open the bag before you float it. if you don't have time to watch it to make sure it doesn't tip stick it in a tupperware container.
