War, earthquakes, famine, disease, these things have been around as long as man has been on the earth. Nothing has changed. Im 40. Would you like to know how many times the world was supposed to have ended in my lifetime? If the world ends it will not be god. We will either be snuffed out by an asteroid or comet or we will destroy ourselves.

The world as I know it ends whenever i gain more insights about life. THE end of the world...perhaps...but I doubt it...call it wishful thinking. Unless (of course) there is a giant asteroid that we haven't seen yet, or we decide to detonate a lot of Nukes or some other super weapon. Or some aliens fire a massive death ray on us like in Commander Keen. Also, if those things don't occur, then it could be that the sun, undergoing a period of massive expansion before its inevitable demise, makes the earth practically uninhabitable for life.
There is also a theory that the end of the world as everyone on the earth knows it will occur on 12/21/2012. Astrologically, Earth will come into alignment with the Milky Way and we will see the mythological phoenix arise above the Ouroboros' head during the Winter Soliste. Also some people think that our ancient alien ancestors from the past are going to visit us.
Other than that, Jesus will come and take away all the Christians. In that case, just run to the Church if you see brimstone.

No. People have always thought that & the world is still here...
So many people have misinterpreted the Bible, Nostradamus etc you can't really be sure.
The Mayans predicted the end was 2011. I guess we won't know til then. Y2K blew over after all the hoopla nothing happened so maybe we're safe. Although global warming could be a ***** if all the ice melts & the water level rises half the world will be submerged. Or an asteroid could hit & cause another ice age...Who knows?
The key is not to worry when the world will end but to make the most of each day & enjoy our lives in the present.

I'm less afraid now than when I was a kid. As I grew up, I learned to "duck and cover" from eminent nuclear destruction from the Russians, that a new ice age was upon us, and that we would be out of gas by the year 2000. Iran was holding Americans hostage, and promising American blood in the streets. Presidents were being assassinated, or attempts were made multiple times. Nuclear power plants were threatening to melt down in the US and Russia. Smog was worse than today in virtually every American city, and rogue nations like Korea and Libya were attacking American interests (remember the USS Pueblo and Khadafi). The Olympics were marred with bloody terrorism and racial protest. Vietnam was killing 100's of Americans a day, and protesters against the war and racism were violently oppressed.
The problems of today, while significant, are small in comparison to the cold war and post-cold war era of my childhood. If the prophesies of the bible need strife for fulfillment, they're too late. The 1960's and 70's met the criteria far better than today, and nothing happened.

Well nobody can be convinced of that, whether or not they believe it. They may think they're convinced, but they're basing it on faith, which is fine in itself.
And while it is true that wars and famines nad terrible things have been around forever, it is NOT true that the capabilities of evil men have stayed the same. An evil man in 500BC, at best(worst?), could become dictator of a country and ravage the countries around him until he was assasinated. An evil man today at best/ worst could gain access to a military base a launch nukes all over the place. The prophecies of the Bible may have just been that once we become capable of ending the world we will, and God will have to come save the faithful from the capabilities of the evil-doers.

I think the Bible is interesting, but generally, it doesn't extend much beyond that. I sincerely doubt that the end of the world is going to be anything like what's presented in Revelations -- it all just sounds too fantastic and unrealistic. It's possible that the end is coming; it wouldn't exactly surprise me. World leaders are making a lot of risky and ill-advised decisions, to put it mildly. However, people have been proclaiming the imminent end of the world for as long as it's been understood that there would be one. I'm not holding my breath.

I think that there are a lot of "hellish" things in the world now and that people are noticing them...
But I think that there have always been a lot of horrible things in the world. With satellite tv and telephones and the internet, we know what's happening everywhere, all the time, instead of being able to be oblivious to everything that's not in our own little towns the way it was centuries ago. I don't think that things are worse than they have ever been. I think we're more aware of the bad things, which is good, because then it enlightens us to the world's problems and gives us the opportunity to change things.

Completely!! Earth, plants, animals and us humans are in a very quick evolutionary process. That is why there are so many changes in all. We are getting ready to be part of a new dimension, a lighter dimension where the vibrations are quicker, so lighter in mass. The purpose is to begin to feel unconditional love. That's what the prophecies mean when they speak of the Golden Years! Good luck to all!

The world or human existence? The world, yes, in several billion years. Human life--it is impossible to say. Could be in the next five minutes--a large chunk of space rock, for example--or it could be several thousand years ahead. But to be sure, our species will run its course, as all species of life do. For us, probably either a global epidemic or some sort or a nuclear exchange among the increasing number of nations with nuclear weapons.
