my ex is trying to deduct the cost of keeping me on his medical insurance during our now 2.5 year seperation from the settlement proceedings. Is this even legal in CA especially when it took him a year to even file seperation papers and another 1.5 years to get to the settlement paperwork? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Also, I don't have a lawyer at this time. We've been trying to do this amicably. Who knew he had a different idea of what amicably meant.

i'd say get a lawyer, just to protect yrself. i did. it's just too hard to be amicable when it comes to divorce. h/ever in my case, it's not a big deal for me to be on his insurance. as long as he keeps the kids on it, then i'm ok. i could always get it from my employer.

Ask your lawyer, and you better make sure there is something in the settlement where he is responsible for your health insurance.
