One of my guys friends told me that girls basketball is wimpy and I am trying to come up with a good answer to tell him because it isn't wimpy.

Not wimpy at all. It's just the fan's mentality. Look at this year's finals. Everyone who wasn't a spurs or cavs fan said this series was totally boring. People want flash and storylines and controversy. They got into it with the Spurs and Suns saying the Spurs are dirty, then everyone was interested. People I know who never watch basketball were asking me questions about the Spurs. So stupid! In women's basketball, you don't see the huge dunks or the roughness of the NBA. If you like basketball, you won't consider the WNBA or women's basketball wimpy and if you do, just watch hockey or boxing.

Your friend apparently doesn't have much of a grasp on basketbal (male or female.) His choice to use the word "wimpy" for his derogatorry adjective speaks to his lack of understanding of the nature of men's or women's basketball. I am personally not a fan of the women's game, but to call it wimpy is a gross misnomer. In every women's game I have seen, they have left every bit of their hearts on that court. There's nothing wimpy whatsoever about; diving for loose balls, getting in position to draw hard charges, or continuing to shoot after missing your first couple shots. The first two examples are of physical toughness and the second is toughness of the mental variety.
One more point: there is nothing wimpy about playing for the love of the game, as opposed to some of their male counterparts who collect their huge paychecks. And a lot of these guys, wouldn't risk drawing a hard charge for anything. Because they might be injured and that might cost them to lose what's important-the money, not the game. Sounds kind of wimpy if you ask me.

It's not wimpy, but what does it count for? It's like saying the Sun's there, it's just behind the clouds.

I say if the girls wore a more revealing uniform the game might garner more attention. Sort of like those wrestling programs that pollute the airwaves. Give em' what they want.

I don't suppose you could just get him on a court and kick his butt? I'd love to see him go one-on-one against any of the WNBA players. Bet that would change his mind in a hurry.
There's probably nothing you can say to change his mind. Look at sean1201's answer; that's the kind of mentality you're up against. the best suggestion I can give you is to try to get him to watch a couple of WNBA games with you. Those young women play rough!
