I just flashed on something - why can't we block these idiots? The idea of blocking them has been mentioned but it seems to me that it would be a very simple feature for Yahoo to add. There could be a section on your profile page that allows you to block certain words like "$mitty", "skinhead" and the "n" word. That way we as individuals could to either choose to deal with these idiots and see their questions and answers or we could block them and never even know they exist.
Please let me know if you think this is a good idea and if you do, does anyone have any suggestions on how we can contact Yahoo and petition them to add this feature?

we do have the blocking feature. it was just added in their last update.

I have written in the Yahoo blog numerous times that an "ignore" button like the old chat rooms had would be a great feature. I agree it would be an easy patch. Perhaps if more people suggested it they might actually listen.

I have often said we should be able to block or filter offensive posts. I made a suggestion in Answers Forum, as I am sure others have already done. It wouldn't infringe on anyone's right to free speech in anyway. It would give me control over what I am reading.

LOVE the idea, Aunt Bea! There are a few REALLY offensive jerks that seem to get their kicks by shocking and disgusting people. I'm all for it!
EDIT:
(btw...Miss Free Speech...what Aunt Bea is suggesting is not prohibiting these jerks from pasting their hate and filth, just giving each user the choice NOT to view those things if they don't want to...not a Free Speech issue!)

great idea, dear, but i spent months lobbying, joining Y!A reform groups, blah, blah, blah, and the Y!A team sit on good ideas and do absolutely NOTHING! i must have posted 50 times on the forum, had a great number of supporters, and just plain got ignored by the team. if there is a team it's a team of robots or doughnut munching do-nothings.

I think it is a good idea,, but why don't you keep their existence and know what are they saying, rather that blocking them them you will be talked at your back.
