I don't get how good sites like craigslist and backpage host these escort sections. isn't this prostitution (which i believe is illegal)? if I were a cop would i be using these adds as a bait? i just don't get how something so blatantly illegal is possible.

well, there is nothing wrong with an escort service but the extras they provide can be illegal, the license they get is for the escort service only which includes accompanying the person to a restaurant or concert or party.
Its the extras like hanky panky can be very illegal but who knows whats going on?

Escort service is not illegal. It only become illegal if a person exchange sex for money. Then that changes to escorting to prostitution. The reason why they don't use those sites is only because they don't want the girls or the guys who are doing it they want the pimps and the tricks..... I guess that is what I have heard from people If that was the case wouldn't tripping be the same thing as escort. Many dancers change sexually acts for money so what do you think if you want to go that far....

Because escorts services sell company, Not sex. That doesn't mean that some prostitution doesn't go on. Cops would have a hard time trying to keep tabs on who doesn't and who does.

I have never used an escort but knew a girl that did it for awhile, its legal because there is no promise of sex, just an understanding, its a dating service and although sex is an obvious its not discussed so you are technically only paying for the company not the sex

I think it is illegal to solicitt and accept money for sex. But, when you deal with an escort service you are paying for someone to accompany you to for the evening. Although it may be understood there is no mention of sex.

The idea behind it is that they provide an escort service and if you have sex later it's your business.
You see prostitution is not illegal ,however soliciting for the act of prostitution is.So they can't advertise it or ask you.
Therefore escort services............

You're right though, Craigslist advertizes for prostitutes. They're simply prostitutes and they admit it in plain language. I wouldn't trust it, if you're thinking about trying it out. If they're not undercover cops they may have diseases.

escorts are legal. as is massage. as is exotic dancing. as is private performace of music.
you can't ban them just b/c some people use these services to advertize prostitution.
but cops can pose as clients as bust them if they do.
