My 9 month old has her first set of incisors coming through and guess what? They are at the top! No other teeth anywhere - nada, nothing at the bottom, just gums. I asked my family and friends that have children about this and they are all amazed and said they have never heard of this happening. Without sounding stupid, is this something I should be concerned about? What will she look like with two teeth on the top and nothing on the bottom? I felt the bottom and nothing even in the works. I felt nothing but the two upper ones are about a week from coming through.

Do not worry! It is okay. The thing that would concern you is if there were no teeth at all. The gum that gets the most stimulation is usually the gum that sprouts first. I work in child care and I have quite a few babies sprout the toppers first. It is okay. If it will make you feel better use a teether that stimulates the whole mouth. They are usually bumpy all over and have colored water in them just for entertainment of the babe.

No don't be concerned, it is more common than you think. Ya it does look a bit funny, but those are the worst teeth for most babies so be glad she getting it over with.

my sons first tooth was not a middle tooth, it was a upper lateral incisor! He look like a gap-toothed old man!!!! Babies don't always follow the "normal" developmental schedule, they are all unique
