First off I didn't write this. Second for the people who said I posted in wrong category, I meant this to target the seperation of Church and state.

I personally think it is just plain "stupid" that people want us to say happy holidays instead of Merry Christmas, along with that one nation under God and in God we trust. Can't people just ignore it?

Also I agree about the music part saying it's just entertainment. Yes, rap has cool beats but the messages are horrible.

I wish that George Washington could come back for a day and would like to know his opinion on America.

In my 30 year law enforcement career I watched as the offenders charged with felonies went from the old Con's to the younger criminals. When I first became a Police Officer it was rare to make a traffic stop and be faced with an armed subject. Now it is an everyday occurrence. In my first ten years I would be surprised if I had to pull my gun more than ten times. In my last ten years it was almost everyday. When I was in school we would never think of disrespecting our teachers. If we did we were marched to the Principals office for swats and then we knew we would get it again when we got home from our fathers. It is the decline of morals that are part and particle of the secularist agenda to move us into Socialism. I am concerned for what we will leave to our children and grand children. The answer above mine is a good example of what is wrong. The teachers have control of our children for most of the day. Yes it is the parents responsibility and should be, but values need to be taught in schools also, and I don't mean for your teacher to tell you not to tell when she has sex with you.

interesting.

you know, to schmorgan, the Bible is considered one of the most accurate books in the world. nothing in it has yet to be validly disproven. many things in it have been validly proven, and accepted by scholars and historians around the world. it is a historical fact that the figures in the bible exist, including Jesus. The Bible accurately describes numerous events that were happening in the world at the same time as the happenings in the Bible, and nonbiblical works have helped to validify the writings of the Bible ( the dead sea scrolls).

how can you say that this world happened by accident??? have you looked around you? have you seen the innumerable stars? the vast oceans? do you realize what a delicate balance we have on this earth? If we were a few thousand miles closer to the sun, we would burn. if our temperature drops or raises just a few degrees, we could be in fatal danger. How could something as complex as DNA just happen, or even evolve?

what are the chances of a simple weed growing out of nothing? arguably none. how much less of a chance then, that our complex, delicate galaxy could spring up out of nowhere.

i'm not asking for Christianity to become mandatory, Lord knows that has caused plenty of problems all over... but shouldn't prayer be allowed in schools, along with scripture reading? don't you think denying students that right is denying them their personal freedoms granted in the constitution? If a Hindu student is allowed to talk about her faith, shouldn't a Christian one be allowed to talk about hers?

Ummm, God was never kicked out of schools. The court case Engel v Vitale was about teachers forcing kids to pray. Kids can pray in schools and hold Bible studies if they wish.

What about the school shootings that took place before Engel v Vitale?

Why didn't God save them while he was still there?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bath_School_Disaster

doesn't seem like he did much good either way, if that's the way you want to play it...

and to your last comments... if your kids don't know God, don't act right or shoot people... it's not the schools fault... it's your's for obviously being a bad parent...

bad parents love blaming the school for their own massive, tremendous failures in destroying their own children... and God is more than well aware of this...

Let's see....

We inhabit a small planet in a solar system (of 8? 9? planets) around a relatively unremarkable star.

God's universe consists of many billions of galaxies. Each consists of billions of stars. (And we have no idea, and no way of knowing, how many universes might exist beyond ours.)

It seems particularly arrogant to think that God's hand specifically, consciously and with intention guides our existence. Or that she deserves, from mere mortals, blame for our woes or credit for our achievements.

What ever happened to the idea of free will?

Oops -- is this about politics?!

According to your own statistics:

20 some odd kids turned into killers.

Millions more DID NOT. So I guess keeping mandatory christianity out of schools (forgive my lapse in removing the sugar coating from what you people really want) is working for 99.99999998% of students. I'll take those odds.

Tell you what- you don't bring your superstitious BS into my school and I won't bring facts into your church.

Deal?

I've never heard that before, but it makes sense. Everyone is always looking for someone other than themselves to blame. Their top picks: George W. Bush and God.

Quite eloquent! Unfortunately, for those of us who do not believe in your God or your Bible, you didn't present any proof, just an emotional appeal. It's such a great thing that you have freedom of religion, but you want to take mine, too. Even posting this in "Politics" instead of "Religion" shows how little respect you have for the separation of church and state.

I agree. We are taking away all that is GOOD in this country and replacing it with immorality and "tolerance". To be tolerant means just not to care what is going on. That's the new BUZZ word for societal laziness and hedonism.
