I doubt that could happen, to cook a potato in boiling water it takes at least 30 min., the sun we receive can't be that hot.

Yes, I have used "sun-cookers," or solar cookers, and even my dashboard in the sun to cook or heat burritos, hot dogs, and other foods for my lunches at work. I've also done this just to save energy and for demonstrations of solar energy use that every one can do.
