How can I find out how large my tank is? I scored a big tank of Freecycle today, with the hood, light, decor and everything. She said she thought it was a 20 gallon, but imo it looks larger. I want to say its a 29 gallon, but I dont know for sure. Either way, I love it, it was exactly what I was looking for, and best of all....it was free!

Measurements:

30 inches length
13 inches width
12 inches in height

Anyone know?

Multiply the length by the width by the height and divide by 231 (square inches in a gallon). That will be your gallons.

30x13x12=4680 divided by 231 = 20.2597 gallons. It is a 20 long.

That sounds like a 20 long. Holds 20 gallons but it's the footprint of a 29 just shorter. This is a great tank. Easy to reach everything but still lots of swimming room for your fish.

From the sounds of it you have a 20 gallon long tank. Nice score on the tank, that is exactly what I have been looking for my rainbow shark and betta!! :]]

its about right, you have a 20 gallon tank, the reason it looks biger is because the tank you have is a 20 gallon long, the formula to determine how many gallons you have is
(Width x Length x Height devided bye 231)

see this site for calculations. You do not have a 20 gallon tank. That would be approx 80 litres.
