Is this something that is truly innate? Or is this someone we do because we've seen it on TV and real life. If the latter, who started the kissing trend?

hmm... I read somewhere, a long time ago (sorry, I wish I knew what book it was in, but I just can't remember), that kissing is a "new" human behavior, something that has only transpired as "normal" within the last 500 years or so. Yes, this means that human sexual behavior has not always been "intimate".

However, I also know that humans cannot survive without touch. Babies who are neglected from birth often die simply because they do not get the touch they need to be stimulated to grow and thrive.

Kissing is a mechanism whereby the body receives certain types of sensory stimulation. Our bodies are built to seek sensory stimuli, that is how we stay alive. I think that somewhere along the line, if kissing hasn't been an activity engaged in "since the beginning of time", someone "discovered" that it makes touching more intense in human sexual relationships, and they shared this "new" experience with others (lol, take that whatever way you want I guess), and the practice "spread", encouraged by human nature... which propogates the species. I think, then, that kissing is a biocultural adaptation. That is, an activity that is evolutionary is scope, and has been retained due to how it supports survival of the species.

Having said that, no I'm not a "pusher" of evolution alone. I also believe there is a divine plan behind the evolution, that things "expand" with a purpose. My point here is not to debate whether science or religion is correct, but to comment on how nature in its entirety can be so mysterious yet so straightforward.

That's because you were probably not physically attracted to her but the more you get to know her, the more emotionally attached you are becoming. That is where lust turns into love. We as people in general can honestly decide if we are going to sleep with someone within the first 30 seconds. Things of course can change that depending on the more you get to know someone but straight out of the gate, you can just look at someone and say, "yep, I would sleep with them."

brain washed i suppose. i find a hug much more satisfying as far as signs of affection go. and when i do feel compelled to kiss someone i enjoy a tender gentle kiss on the lips as opposed to a lust passionate suck face trip... lol, i just noticed not that long ago about the difference between reality and TV...

Hormones. Being a doctor, i can tell you that we are all attracted to someone in our lives, due to hormones. Even in shakespere's plays, people kiss, and just to let you know, they didn't have T.V.s back then. Even chimps and other primates show affection by hugging and kissing. Every animal has its own way of doing it, and ours is lip to lip.

it makes us feel closer to the person because we wouldn't normally do it with just a friend. it is also influenced by the whole thing we see on tv about the feeling you get with your first kiss with a different person.

It's probably a stronger psychological, innate drive in men. Me have stronger sex drives for certain, than women.

It is the natural way for humans to show affection. Other animals spray urine and roll in the opposite sexes. They rub faces and bodies. We kiss and fondle. Its nature I believe.

Its what we have always done to express love and feelings and we like it. Sex is like eating and breathing, we have to have it because its in grown.

A sweet thing is eaten. Your sweet friend can`t be eaten. So you kiss . Kiss is psychologically symbolic of eating and enjoying it.
