Love em' grilled, they're the best, as well as putting the cread to toast just a tad bit. It is even better like that! Sometimes though, Microwave is the easiest thing, and that's ok sometimes.

Love 'em grilled. And yeah, held over a burner works great. And I agree, with an electric stove it is tricky, but do-able.

As a rule, I like 'em boiled in their skins, but sometimes for a snack, I'll toast 'em over the gas range on a fork, 'til they get the crunchy blisters and spatters of burning grease, then slap 'em in a piece of bread and munch 'em like that--split and pan-fried take longer and need more watching, but also make a tasty variation---

Grilled...outside on the grill or on the George Foreman grill. Either way it has to have burn marks.

Grilled is my favorite especially when they are a little tiny bit burnt in a couple of areas, yum!
I also like the 'dirt water" franks you get off the carts with onions and relish, shoot, now I'm hungry!
